Fine Arts 489/589:  Musical Theatre Workshop I & II

These performance courses allow students to synthesize the singing, dancing, and acting skills they learn in the studio through the public performance of musicals. Fine Arts 489 is used for studio productions while Fine Arts 589 is used for main stage productions.

Fine Arts 689:  Senior Capstone - Musical Theatre

This student driven, team supervised course is the culminating experience for Musical Theatre majors. Students are asked to create and perform a thirty-minute showcase of their musical theatre skills.

Theatre 100:  Introduction to the Theatre

An introductory course for non-majors, Theatre 100 combines lecture, discussion, and the viewing of live performances to lead students on an exploration of theatre as vital art form.

Theatre 101:  Acting for Non-Majors

This course for non-majors introduces students to the basic elements of acting through through exercises that address self-awareness, observation of others, physical/vocal freedom, textual analysis, and character development.

Theatre 213:  Play Analysis

A core class for all Theatre majors, Theatre 213 gives student directors, designers, stage managers, technician, and actors the tools to thoroughly examine any play script in detail in order to make artistic and practical decisions for production.

Theatre 305:  The Theatrical Experience

Required for Theatre majors, but open to all students, Theatre 305 examines the relationship between theatre and practice through tours and performances at a wide variety of Milwaukee area theatres.

Theatre 408:  Acting in Musical Theatre

This course concentrates on the integration of acting and singing techniques through rigorous character analysis and focused coaching with units on audition preperation, classic ballads, duets, and uptempo songs.  All Musical Theatre majors are required to take this course, but others are welcome with the permission of the instructor.

Theatre 410: Stage Directing

Theatre 410 uses a series of progressive experiences to replicate the professional director's process. At the end of the course, each student director presents a two-person, ten-minute scene from a contemporary play.  The class is required for students pursuing  a BA in Theatre, a BA in Theatre Education, or a BFA in Stage Management, but is open to all Theatre majors.

Theatre 475:  Rehearsal and Performance

This  course allows students to apply all performance skills (acting, voice, and movement) learned in the studio through the public performance of plays.
